Famine led to a blessing

Acts Bible Background

06.24.2017 – New Testament: Acts 7.11–13

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 7.1–19 on June 24, In the year of our Lord 2017

By Don Ruhl

God used a famine in the Land of Canaan to bring Jacob’s family to Egypt where they could enjoy the best of the land,

“Now a famine and great trouble came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no sustenance. But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first. And the second time Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family became known to the Pharaoh” (Acts 7.11–13).

Joseph had been separated from his father for 22 years, and Jacob believed that his son was dead that whole time. What a wonderful reunion that must have been!
