A quick trip to Jerusalem

Acts Bible Background

07.19.2017 – New Testament: Acts 21.1–3

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 21.1–14 on July 19, In the year of our Lord 2017

By Don Ruhl

Paul made plans to go to Jerusalem during the feast of Pentecost, and Luke shows himself traveling with Paul and they worked to get to Jerusalem quickly,

Now it came to pass, that when we had departed from them and set sail, running a straight course we came to Cos, the following day to Rhodes, and from there to Patara. And finding a ship sailing over to Phoenicia, we went aboard and set sail. When we had sighted Cyprus, we passed it on the left, sailed to Syria, and landed at Tyre; for there the ship was to unload her cargo (Acts 21.1–3).

Today, we could make that trip so much faster; Paul would not believe it. Yet, the Lord put him in that time with the means of travel that they had, and somehow the Gospel went out everywhere.

Questions:

  • If you cannot preach and teach, do you support those who can, helping to them travel and seeing that they have all that they need?
  • Where does the mission of the church rank in your priorities?
