We have afflictions, but we also have the Lord

Is it normal for the righteous to run into constant problems? Yes, as David testified in Psalm 34,

Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
He guards all his bones;
Not one of them is broken.
Evil shall slay the wicked,
And those who hate the righteous shall be condemned.
The LORD redeems the soul of His servants,
And none of those who trust in Him shall be condemned.
(Psalm 34.19–22)

If you come to the Lord with the expectation that you shall never have problems, then you will experience great disappointment. In this text, the Bible comes right out and reveals that the righteousness have afflictions, even many afflictions.

However, the Lord delivers us from those afflictions. You do not have to live long in Christ to experience or to see what David meant.

Questions:

  • Did the Lord promise that our afflictions shall last a short time?
  • How long might we experience afflictions?
