Do what you promise

Ecclesiastes Bible Background

09.18.2017 – Old Testament: Ecc 5.4–5

To read the Bible in a year, read Ecclesiastes 4–6 on September 18, In the year of our Lord 2017

By Don Ruhl

Do you want God to keep His promises to you? Is it too much then for us to keep our promises to Him and to the people in our lives? Solomon said,

When you make a vow to God, do not delay to pay it;
For He has no pleasure in fools.
Pay what you have vowed—
Better not to vow than to vow and not pay.
(Ecclesiastes 5.4–5)

Nothing in the Bible says that you have to make promises, but if you do, you must keep them no matter what.

Questions:

  • Have you kept all your promises?
  • If not, can you still make good on them?
