11.15.2017 – New Testament: Heb 11.13
To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 11.1–19 on November 15, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
The story of the Bible is about the promises that the Lord gave Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but they did not see the fulfillment of those promises, nor did anyone in the Hebrew Bible see the fulfillment of those promises,
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth (Hebrews 11.13).
The Israelites did see the fulfillment of the nation-land promises, but the blessing that the Lord promised to all the families of the earth, did not happen until Jesus arrived on the earth. Therefore, those Israelites could see that they were only strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
Questions:
- Is this your final home?
- Are you then also a stranger and a pilgrim on the earth?
