11.16.2017 – Old Testament: Eze 14.4–5
To read the Bible in a year, read Ezekiel 13–15 on November 16, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Israel would set up idols in their hearts and then go to a prophet to appear before the Lord, but the Lord said to them,
“Therefore speak to them, and say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: Everyone of the house of Israel who sets up his idols in his heart, and puts before him what causes him to stumble into iniquity, and then comes to the prophet, I the LORD will answer him who comes, according to the multitude of his idols, that I may seize the house of Israel by their heart, because they are all estranged from Me by their idols” (Ezekiel 14.4–5).
The Lord could see what Israel did. Therefore, He saw their hypocrisy when they put idols in their hearts, but then went to inquire of Him.
Put something in your heart that is more important to you than the Lord God is and He will deal with you according to the number of your idols. He does that, letting us fall when our idols let us down so He may capture our hearts.
- Who or what sits enthroned on your heart?
- Does your heart belong to the Lord?
