12.09.2017 – Old Testament: Hos 2.12–13
To read the Bible in a year, read Hosea 1–4 on December 9, In the year of our Lord 2017
By Don Ruhl
Hosea the prophet revealed to Israel that she had forgotten Yahweh her God and made idols her new lovers. Having forsaken the Lord, Israel thought that her blessings came from sources other than God. Therefore, He said to the nation,
“And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees,
Of which she has said,
‘These are my wages that my lovers have given me.’
So I will make them a forest,
And the beasts of the field shall eat them.
I will punish her
For the days of the Baals to which she burned incense.
She decked herself with her earrings and jewelry,
And went after her lovers;
But Me she forgot,” says the LORD.
Why should He have continued to bless her when she thought that others gave her those blessings?
- Do you thank God often for the blessings in your life?
- Do you thank God for the spiritual blessings in your life?
