God works toward bringing His family together. We are known as the children of God, for He created us, body and spirit, but not everyone in body is a child of God, only those who are His children in spirit. Of those people, He says,
“Thus says the LORD of hosts:
‘Behold, I will save My people from the land of the east
And from the land of the west;
I will bring them back,
And they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
They shall be My people
And I will be their God,
In truth and righteousness.’”
(Zechariah 8.7–8)
Here He mentions two of the four elements of what I call, The Family Promise of God: One, we shall be His people, and two, He will be our God. The word “religion,” has its root meaning in, “to bind back,” and that is what He does through the work of Christ, He brings us back to Him that we might all be family together with Him as our God.
Questions:
- What more could we want than to be God’s people and to have Him as our God?
- Do you value the family of God?
