01.01.2018 – Old Testament: Gen 1.26–28
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 1–2 on January 1, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
As Moses gave brief descriptions of what God created on each day, he then recorded this about man’s creation,
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1.26–28).
And so it is today. We are obviously different than the rest of creation, yet, we have characteristics that are similar. We have dominion over all of creation, which is why we harness creation for our use, but also why we preserve it and care for it. God told us to fill the earth and we are seeking to do it. From there He takes care of the rest, providing us with what we need. Praise God!
