02.11.2018 – Old Testament: Lev 13.45–46
To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 13 on February 11, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
It must have been a miserable life as a leper, having to separate oneself from the rest of the congregation and live in isolation,
“Now the leper on whom the sore is, his clothes shall be torn and his head bare; and he shall cover his mustache, and cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’ He shall be unclean. All the days he has the sore he shall be unclean. He is unclean, and he shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp” (Leviticus 13.45–46).
However, that did not mean that the leper was without God, nor does the Scripture indicate that everyone who suffered from leprosy had it because of sin. Some people, like Miriam and Gehazi, received it as a punishment for sin.
The body of the leper was unclean, but the spirit may have been just as clean before God as the next person.
