02.15.2018 – Old Testament: Lev 21.5–6
To read the Bible in a year, read Leviticus 20–21 on February 15, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
The Lord made the human body just as He wanted it to be. Therefore, the men who represented Israel, the high priests, could not alter their bodies,
“They shall not make any bald place on their heads, nor shall they shave the edges of their beards nor make any cuttings in their flesh. They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God, for they offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy” (Leviticus 21.5–6).
This also pictured what the Lord truly wanted the priests to be on the inside; He wanted the spirit pure and unaltered by sin. Of course, none of the sons of Aaron could meet that requirement, but later another High Priest would come into Israel and He would be sinless and having offered Himself as the final and complete perfect sacrifice, all the animal sacrifices of the Law of Moses no longer had to be offered.
- Do you strive to make your inward nature perfect before God?
- If it is not perfect, do you know what to do to have it perfected?
