03.13.2018 – New Testament: Mark 14.43
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 14.26–50 on March 13, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Somehow the sight of men arresting Jesus with swords and clubs just does not seem right. He was a man of peace, nevertheless, Judas, a disciple and follower of Jesus, led violent men to take Jesus,
And immediately, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders (Mark 14.43).
We really should not be surprised by what people can do, even those who claim to be friends. The chief priests, scribes, and elders thought that they knew Jesus, but arresting Him in this manner shows just how little they knew Him.
- Has a friend ever betrayed you?
- Have you ever betrayed a friend?
- Why did Jesus allow Himself to be betrayed?
