03.21.2018 – New Testament: Luke 2.4–7
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 2.1–24 on March 21, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
The Holy Spirit caused Mary to conceive and she carried her son for nine months. However, life did not stop for her and her unborn child, but the Roman government required a census and so they had to comply,
Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn (Luke 2.4–7).
God the Father wanted His Son to enter the world and live as any human would. So, although Mary carried someone wonderful within her, she still had to go on with life, for life waits for no one. Yet when she brought forth Jesus, He brought forth life for every person who believes with all his heart that He is the Son of God and who obey Him.
- Do you believe with all your heart that Jesus is the Son of the living God?
- Do you seek to live a life of penitence?
- Have you been baptized in water for the remission of your sins?
