Following the Lord Jesus Christ is not like joining a sports team, because following Jesus requires everything of us, and it is not seasonal, but lasts until the day we die. Jesus taught,

“Whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple” (Luke 14.33).

Following Him means making Him our all in all, making Him our top priority, not letting anything stand between us and Him, and following Him no matter the cost.
