To read the Bible in a year, read First Samuel 25–26 on April 18, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
David protected the shepherds and sheep of a man named Nabal, but he felt no obligation toward David and even rebuked him when David asked for help. That angered David and he got ready to attack Nabal and to wipe out everything connected to him, but when his wife heard about it, she had a much different approach toward David,
Now when Abigail saw David, she dismounted quickly from the donkey, fell on her face before David, and bowed down to the ground (1 Samuel 25.23).
She knew that she and Nabal and all their workers were about to die, and she knew that her husband was an awful man. Therefore, she went out to David, hoping to appease him, and her humility before him did stop him.
- Are you humble before people?
- Are you only concerned about defending yourself?
