No man or woman is God, and that includes us. Sometimes we can become very successful at something or people can put honors upon us that make us think we are greater than what we truly are.

For example, the people in one city saw Paul and Barnabas do miracles and the people concluded that they were gods and wanted to sacrifice to them. However, the two men stopped the people. Luke wrote:

And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them (Acts 14.18).

Not only did the citizens of that city need to know that Paul and Barnabas were not gods, but Paul and Barnabas also had to reject the idea that they were gods.

Questions:

  • Have you exalted someone in your thinking higher than you should have?
  • Have you exalted yourself higher in their thinking than you should have?
