If you teach the truth, expect opposition to follow you wherever you go

Acts Bible Background

07.12.2018 – New Testament: Acts 17.13

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 17.1–15 on July 12, In the year of our Lord 2018

By Don Ruhl

Paul entered synagogues and taught the Jews that Jesus of Nazareth is the Christ, but many opposed him for that teaching and they would beat him or drive him out of town or show opposition in some other way. Sometimes they even followed him:

But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came there also and stirred up the crowds (Acts 17.13).

When you teach the truth or speak up for what is right, expect opposition, and do not let it surprise you if the opposition follows you.

Questions:

  • How do you react to those teaching truth?
  • Have you persecuted someone for teaching truth?
