Reading the history of Israel during the wilderness wanderings and in the Land of Canaan makes you wonder why God continued to bless them. The closing portion of Psalm 105 shows why He did:

For He remembered His holy promise,
And Abraham His servant.
He brought out His people with joy,
His chosen ones with gladness.
He gave them the lands of the Gentiles,
And they inherited the labor of the nations,
That they might observe His statutes
And keep His laws.
Praise the LORD!
(Psalm 105.42–45)

He had made a promise to Abraham and not even the sinfulness of Abraham’s descendants could keep God from fulfilling His promise!

Questions:

  • What can keep you from fulfilling your promises?
  • Do you know what God promised Abraham?
