No feelings of guilt does not mean freedom from guilt

Proverbs Bible Background

09.16.2018 – Old Testament: Pro 30.20

To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 30–31 on September 16, In the year of our Lord 2018

By Don Ruhl

If I do not feel guilty does that mean I am not guilty? Notice carefully the words of the following proverb:

This is the way of an adulterous woman:
She eats and wipes her mouth,
And says, “I have done no wickedness.”
(Proverbs 30.20)

She claims that she had not done wickedness, yet, the Bible still calls her an adulteress. She has no feelings of guilt, but the Lord will hold her accountable.

Questions:

  • How do you view your life? Do you pretend that you have not sinned?
  • If you have been caught up in adultery, do you know what to do to be free of it?
