09.28.2018 – New Testament: Gal 6.12
To read the Bible in a year, read Galatians 6 on September 28, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
Someone went to the churches in the region of Galatia to persuade them that they needed to accept circumcision as part of salvation, although those people were Gentiles. Paul, by the Spirit, revealed part of their motive for adding circumcision:
As many as desire to make a good showing in the flesh, these would compel you to be circumcised, only that they may not suffer persecution for the cross of Christ (Galatians 6.12).
By telling the Gentile converts that they had to be circumcised to be saved, protected the false teachers from being persecuted by the unbelieving Jews, and the false teachers could boast of the numbers of people they had persuaded to receive circumcision.
Questions:
- What is your motive when you teach others how to be saved?
- Are you careful to teach what the apostles taught on how to be saved?
