10.15.2018 – Old Testament: Isa 57.16–18
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 56–58 on October 15, In the year of our Lord 2018
By Don Ruhl
The Lord spoke through Isaiah, saying that He would dwell in the high and holy place, as well as with the one who is contrite and humble (Isaiah 57.15), and He said further to explain:
For I will not contend forever,
Nor will I always be angry;
For the spirit would fail before Me,
And the souls which I have made.
For the iniquity of his covetousness
I was angry and struck him;
I hid and was angry,
And he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.
I have seen his ways, and will heal him;
I will also lead him,
And restore comforts to him
And to his mourners.
The Lord does not remain angry forever, but gladly receives and even dwells with the one who is broken up over his or her sin.
- What is your view toward your sin?
- Do you want the Lord to dwell with you?
