Rest and wait for the resurrection

Daniel Bible Background

12.08.2018 – Old Testament: Dan 12.13

To read the Bible in a year, read Daniel 11–12 on December 8, In the year of our Lord Christ 2018

By Don Ruhl

The Lord revealed to Daniel the history of the Jews during the time that we call the Intertestamental Period (From the ending of the writing of the Old Testament with Malachi to the arrival of Jesus into the world), which dealt mainly with the Greeks in the area and what they would do to the Jews. Daniel did not understand all of the vision and as he contemplated it, he was told:

“But you, go your way till the end; for you shall rest, and will arise to your inheritance at the end of the days” (Daniel 12.13).

The matters of which we read in Daniel 10–12 would not happen during the lifetime of Daniel. Therefore, after recording the vision, he could only go his way, be patient, and wait for his resurrection later when he would receive his inheritance.
