01.01.2019 – Old Testament: Gen 1.29–30
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 1–2 on January 1, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
From the beginning of time, God has provided abundantly for man and beast. Hear what He said to Adam and Eve after He created them:
And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so (Genesis 1.29–30).
We can only dream of what that world looked like before God cursed the ground because of man’s sin and before He flooded the world in the days of Noah. We know that it had more vegetation than it does now, and what we have now provides for the huge numbers of creatures living on the earth, but there was even more vegetation before.
Sometimes God provides just enough to get by and sometimes He provides a super abundance. Let us praise Him for both times.
- Do you thank God for your food or do you complain about what you have to eat?
- Do you try to eat healthfully?
