01.21.2019 – New Testament: Matt 15.1–2
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 15.1–20 on January 21, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
The scribes and Pharisees approached Jesus, not His disciples, but Him, and complained,
Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread” (Matthew 15.1–2).
Why could the scribes and Pharisees not approach the disciples? Was it easier to talk behind their backs rather than speaking to them face to face? If you have a complaint, talk to the one with whom you have the problem. As Solomon said: “Debate your case with your neighbor, and do not disclose the secret to another” (Proverbs 25.9).
Questions:
- Do you complain about people to other people?
- If so, why?
