The kingdom went from the Jews to the Gentiles

Matthew Bible Background

02.01.2019 – New Testament: Matt 21.43

To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 21.43–46 on February 1, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019

By Don Ruhl

Jesus told the chief priests and the elders that they would reject Him, although He was the chief cornerstone. Since they would reject Him, He declared:

“Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it” (Matthew 21.43).

It happened just as He said that it would happen. In the beginning, in the middle decades of the first century, Jews comprised almost the entire membership of the church. However, the apostles started going to the nations and they eagerly accepted it, and the Jews for the most part have turned their back on the kingdom/church ever since then.

Jesus always knows the truth, even about the future.

Questions:

  • According to the flesh, are you Jewish or Gentile?
  • How many Jews do you know in the church?
