02.05.2019 – Old Testament: Exo 38.29–31
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 37–38 on February 5, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019

As you read of the construction of the tabernacle, have you wondered where Israel got all those precious stones and metals, as well as fabric? They were slaves in Egypt! How could slaves get such things? Remember that the Lord told Israel to ask the Egyptians for those things and the Egyptians would gladly give all that Israel wanted.
As the Lord completed His instructions to Moses about the making of the tabernacle, the last things that He mentioned was this:
“The offering of bronze was seventy talents and two thousand four hundred shekels. And with it he made the sockets for the door of the tabernacle of meeting, the bronze altar, the bronze grating for it, and all the utensils for the altar, the sockets for the court all around, the bases for the court gate, all the pegs for the tabernacle, and all the pegs for the court all around” (Exodus 38.29–31).
Here is the amazing thing: All of that was made with Egyptian materials! Whether the Egyptians realized it or not, they furnished the materials for Israel to worship the God whom the Egyptians did not want Israel to worship!
- Do you own any precious metals or stones?
- Would you be willing to give it for a great need?
