02.07.2019 – New Testament: Matt 24.48–51
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 24.23–51 on February 7, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
As Jesus spoke of His return, what we commonly call The Second Coming, He used a parable about a master and his servants and how an evil servant takes advantage of the master’s apparent delayed return, and He used this to speak of His return:
“But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 24.48–51).
Jesus gave that parable to warn us not to do the same, for if we do, we shall suffer the consequences for such behavior. Therefore, always so live as though the Lord could return at any moment.
