Jesus and little children

Matthew Bible Background

To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 10.1–31 on March 4, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019

By Don Ruhl

To love little children is to have the spirit of Jesus living in you, because on one occasion families brought their children to Him, but His disciples tried to stop it—probably thinking that He should not be bothered with children—but after explaining that children are for the kingdom of God and that if we hope to enter the kingdom, we must receive children, Mark then showed Jesus doing this:

And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them (Mark 10.16).

Can you picture Jesus picking up your children, laying His hands on them, and then blessing them? Knowing what I know about Jesus, I would not be able to hold back the tears of joy and the biggest smile that I ever had.

  • Why do little children love Jesus?
  • Are you like a child so that you may enter the kingdom of God?
