04.03.2019 – New Testament: Luke 9.21–22
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 9.1–36 on April 3, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
When Jesus was killed, it should not have surprised the twelve, because Jesus spoke about it plainly, as in this case:
And He strictly warned and commanded them to tell this to no one, saying, “The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day.”
– Luke 9.21–22
Sometimes when He spoke in that manner, they thought that He spoke figuratively and at other times, they objected to the idea that He could die or let men kill Him. However, it took a while before they realized why He had to die.
Questions:
- Why did Jesus have to die?
- How would you have reacted if Jesus had said the above words to you?
