New Testament: Luke 22.44
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 22.31–53 on April 30, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
It was time. His hour had arrived. He faced a brutal and long death. He knew that all His friends would forsake Him. He knew that the Father Himself would also forsake Him. Jesus then prayed:
And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
– Luke 22.44
He agonized in prayer. He poured out His soul to God and Jesus so poured out His soul that in His stress He began to perspire, and blood also leaked out through His veins and mixed with the sweat.
Questions:
- Why did Jesus go through such a time?
- What was He accomplishing?
