New Testament: Luke 24.49
To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 24.36–53 on May 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
We know the word of the Lord and we see the condition of the world, leading us to want to do something about the poor or sinful things. It is good that we want to bring the world to righteousness and to the Lord, and we should do whatever we can, but sometimes we just have to wait for the Lord because it is His world.
His apostles would soon go out into the world and change the world forever, but they had to wait first:
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”
– Luke 24.49
They went back to Jerusalem after Jesus ascended into heaven and waited about 10 days. They really did not know when something would happen or what exactly it was going to be. They just had to wait. We are glad that they did, because now our lives have been changed forever.
- Are you good at waiting?
- If you were to teach someone else how to wait on the Lord, what would you say?
