New Testament: John 2.21
To read the Bible in a year, read John 2 on May 9, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
The Book of John has impressed me with the thinking of the Lord Jesus, how He used the things of this world to show spiritual truths. For example, in John 2, He drove some businesses out of the temple, but His enemies demanded to see a sign that gave Him the authority to do that and for calling the temple His Father’s house.
He responded by telling them to destroy the temple and He would raise it up in three days. However, they could only think of the temple that Herod built and so they did not believe that He could raise it up in three days since it had taken 46 years to build it.
Then John added this note:
But He was speaking of the temple of His body.
– John 2.21
He did that constantly, as recorded by John, because Jesus wants it that, when we see something in this world, for it to lead us into a spiritual, heavenly, or biblical truth.
Questions:
- Do the laws of heaven reflect the laws of nature or do the laws of nature reflect the laws of heaven?
- In what way was the body of Jesus a temple?
