New Testament: John 11.54
To read the Bible in a year, read John 11.47–57 on May 30, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
Jesus died at a young age, but He could have died even sooner. There was the time that Herod tried to kill Him while He was still a baby, but after His ministry began, there were several attempts to kill Him. The Bible says this after the Jews plotted to kill Him:
Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went from there into the country near the wilderness, to a city called Ephraim, and there remained with His disciples.
– John 11.54
He was not afraid to die, but the Father had planned the timing of His death, and it could not happen sooner nor later. The entire scheme for saving man was laid out perfectly in the mind of God, and nothing was going to foil that plan.
- How does that affect you, knowing that Jesus timed His death perfectly for your salvation?
- How can you thank Him?
