If the Jews as a whole turned to the Lord

Romans Bible Background

New Testament: Rom 11.15

To read the Bible in a year, read Romans 11.1–21 on August 11, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019

By Don Ruhl

Romans 9–11 addresses the problem of Jewish unbelief. Paul had said that by the Jews turning their backs on the Lord, He in turn opened things up for the Gentiles. Then Paul said:

For if their being cast away is the reconciling of the world, what will their acceptance be but life from the dead?

– Romans 11.15

If the Jews, or for that matter anyone, turns to the Lord, it is a great thing, and in this case Paul meant that it is a great thing for the rest of the world. The Lord used them to deliver His word to the world, so think of how it would influence the world for the Jews to come back to Him en masse!

  • What are you doing to evangelize the lost?
  • Do you believe that the people you know who are not Christians, are lost?
