The feelings of an evangelistic team

2 Corinthians Bible Background

09.10.2019 – New Testament: 2Co 2.12–13

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Corinthians 2 on September 10, In the year of our Lord 2019

By Don Ruhl

When Paul and his preaching team went on journeys to preach the Gospel, they went into territory where no one else had ever preached. In such situations, they needed one another. See Paul’s urgency when separated from Titus,

Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ’s gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord, I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia.

– 2 Corinthians 2.12–13

Although Paul had a great opportunity to preach, he had a restless spirit without Titus. Yes, Paul had the Lord, but there is something about having familiar people around us who have the same goal as we do, that puts our hearts at ease when on foreign soil.

Questions:

  • Have you ever worked on an evangelistic team?
  • What was it like?

  1. I’ve worked on teams with people I already knew, and on teams with brethren who are new to me.

It’s far better to work with people we already have a working relationship with in my opinion, like Paul must have already had with Titus for example.

    Thanks for the post 🙂
