09.30.2019 – Old Testament: Isa 21.1–2
To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 19–21 on September 30, In the year of our Lord 2019
By Don Ruhl
Babylon had been such a magnificent empire, but through sin the nation brought itself down badly. God ordered others to attack it:
The burden against the Wilderness of the Sea.
As whirlwinds in the South pass through,
So it comes from the desert, from a terrible land.
A distressing vision is declared to me;
The treacherous dealer deals treacherously,
And the plunderer plunders.
Go up, O Elam!
Besiege, O Media!
All its sighing I have made to cease.– Isaiah 21.1–2
It does not matter to what level of greatness a nation has arisen, if it sins repeatedly against God, He will bring it down, and He brought Babylon down so far that it ceased to be a nation.

- Can you see God working in history?
- What do you think God wants to see in the world?
