Old Testament: Jer 44.28
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 43–45 on November 6, In the year of our Lord 2019
By Don Ruhl
The Lord had told some people of Judah not to go to the land of Egypt, but they went anyway. Many of them would die there, although they had sought a place of safety. Later, the Lord said to them,
“Yet a small number who escape the sword shall return from the land of Egypt to the land of Judah; and all the remnant of Judah, who have gone to the land of Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose words will stand, Mine or theirs.”
– Jeremiah 44.28
They thought they would do better by ignoring the Lord’s word and that they would prosper by doing their word. Why do people think that way? It is still a problem today, that people think the Lord does not know what He is talking about, and so they follow their own hearts and eventually fail.
Questions:
- Is there something in the word of God that you refuse to obey?
- Whose word will last: Yours or the Lord’s?
