Old Testament: Mic 7.11–13
To read the Bible in a year, read Micah 6–7 on December 21, In the year of our Lord Christ 2019
By Don Ruhl
The prophet, speaking for God’s people, had spoken to their enemies and told them not to rejoice over Israel, for although the nation had fallen, it would arise again (Micah 7.8–10). Speaking more of future greatness, the prophet continued:
In the day when your walls are to be built,
In that day the decree shall go far and wide.
In that day they shall come to you
From Assyria and the fortified cities,
From the fortress to the River,
From sea to sea,
And mountain to mountain.
Yet the land shall be desolate
Because of those who dwell in it,
And for the fruit of their deeds.
– Micah 7.11–13
It is in the church, which is the true Zion, that these things saw their fulfillment as people from every nation now go into the spiritual Zion known as the church. We should rejoice at the greatness of the church in the eyes of the Lord.
- Do you believe that the Old Testament foretold of the church?
- If not, do you believe the church was a Plan B?
