01.26.2020 – Old Testament: Exo 12.13
To read the Bible in a year, read Exodus 11–12 on January 26, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
The tenth plague required the Israelites to do something to protect themselves from its devastation. They were to kill a lamb and put its blood on the doorposts and lintel, and the Lord said:
“Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.”
– Exodus 12.13
Hence, the name of the great Jewish feast day known as Passover. Likewise, in First Corinthians 5, Paul said that Christ is our Passover because as the Lamb of God, His blood covers us and God passes over us that we might not perish.
