New Testament: Matt 27.23
To read the Bible in a year, read Matthew 27.1–31 on February 13, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
The Jewish leaders brought Jesus to the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, to carry out the death penalty because they had already determined that Jesus was worthy of it. However, Pilate examined Jesus and the Bible says:
Then the governor said, “Why, what evil has He done?” But they cried out all the more, saying, “Let Him be crucified!”
– Matthew 27.23
Our generation should answer the same question. What evil has Jesus done that you mock Him, desert Him, walk away from Him, and do not believe Him?
Questions:
- What evil did the Jewish leaders think that Jesus had done?
- What punishment did they want for Him?
