New Testament: Mark 3.23–26
To read the Bible in a year, read Mark 3.23–35 on February 20, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
Some scribes said that Jesus cast out demons by the power of the ruler of the demons, meaning Satan himself. However, Jesus countered:
So He called them to Himself and said to them in parables: “How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end.”
– Mark 3.23–26
Those scribes should have known what Jesus told them. It is just common sense. However, they had to find a way to explain away His miracles, but in so doing they made themselves look stupid.
Questions:
- Why do you think Jesus was able to cast demons out of people?
- Is Satan intelligent?
