Old Testament: Num 14.25
To read the Bible in a year, read Numbers 14–15 on February 25, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
Israel refused to believe the good report about the Land of Canaan from the two spies, Joshua and Caleb, but believed the bad report from the other 10 spies. Therefore, the Lord would not allow Israel to inherit the land until that generation, including the 10 spies, had died. For the time, Israel had to move on:
“Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley; tomorrow turn and move out into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.”
– Numbers 14.25
The Red Sea? They had come through the Red Sea to escape the Egyptians, but the Lord had them turn back in that direction as part of the consequence for their unbelief. Isn’t that what unbelief does to us? It takes us back to where we started and we wander aimlessly even as Israel literally wandered in the wilderness.
Questions:
- Do you believe all of the Lord’s promises?
- Do you base your life on His promises?

Good questions. Moving away, or backwards, has little to commend it. I want to go forward, always!
