To be blessed by Jesus

Luke Bible Background

New Testament: Luke 24.50

To read the Bible in a year, read Luke 24.36–53 on May 6, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020

By Don Ruhl

There is a sentence in the Gospel According to Luke that we might be tempted to read over quickly, but slow down and read this sentence with your imagination:

And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.

– Luke 24.50

We may want to get to the next sentence that pictures His ascension, but if you had been present that day, would you not have considered that sentence above to be quite significant? Picture yourself standing before Jesus as He raises His hands, and then He blesses you. Would that not be an awesome experience?

Questions:

  • How has Jesus blessed you?
  • Where is Bethany?
