New Testament: John 3.17
To read the Bible in a year, read John 3.1–21 on May 10, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020
By Don Ruhl
You know John 3.16, but listen to Jesus explain Himself in the next sentence:
“For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
– John 3.17
If God wanted to condemn the world, He would not have sent His Son, for as Jesus will say in His next sentence (v. 18), the world was already condemned. Instead, God wants to save the world from condemnation, that is why He sent Jesus into the world.
Do not make the mistake of thinking that Jesus meant God will not condemn the world, for He surely will, but He does not want to condemn the world.
Questions:
- How are we saved through Jesus?
- Have you been saved from the coming condemnation?
