Because David was a mighty warrior, he attracted other mighty warriors in Israel and from other nations, and they fought under his command:

Also the mighty warriors were Asahel the brother of Joab…

– 1 Chronicles 11.26–47

Most of the men listed do not appear elsewhere in the Bible, and we may find their names difficult to pronounce, but here the Bible shows the glory of Israel during the reign of David.

David attracted men who were like himself, at least in warfare, and that shows us a truth of life that generally the people who surround us are like us.

  1. In your first sentence, you described the warriors as “might warriors” after you mentioned David as a mighty warrior.
