New Testament: Acts 2.6
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 2.1–13 on June 16, In the year of our Lord 2020
By Don Ruhl
While we need to make opportunities to speak the word, sometimes the Spirit or some other means makes the opportunity available and when that happens, we have to be ready. This happened on a particular Pentecost when the apostles experienced the baptism of the Holy Spirit and it happened with a sound. Everyone in Jerusalem that day heard the sound:
And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
– Acts 2.6
The apostles did not create this situation, but the Spirit did and they were ready to speak. Therefore, as we go about our lives as Christians, let us remember who is in charge and that we need to do what we can, but we also need to realize that the Spirit will create opportunities, not in the same way as that Pentecost, yet, He will work and we just have to be ready.
