New Testament: Acts 4.24
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 4.23–37 on June 20, In the year of our Lord 2020
By Don Ruhl
The Jewish authorities arrested Peter and John for doing a miracle and for preaching in Jesus the resurrection of the dead. The authorities then threatened the apostles, but they proclaimed that they would keep on preaching and teaching. When the two apostles returned to the church, the apostles reported what they had been told. The church reacted this way:
So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them…”
– Acts 4.24
They heard of threats against them and the first thing they did was raise their voice to God. All the successful people you read of in the Scriptures, put God first in their minds whatever the situation was.
Questions:
- How do you respond when you hear a report of any kind of persecution?
- Do you think of the Lord first in all the issues of your life?
