New Testament: Acts 7.41
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 7.20–43 on June 25, In the year of our Lord 2020
By Don Ruhl
Stephen reminded the Jewish Council of what their fathers did in the wilderness shortly after Yahweh God delivered them from Egypt:
“And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.”
– Acts 7.41
They had witnessed the miracles of the plagues upon Egypt, and they had witnessed the dividing of the Red Sea, and they had benefited from God’s providence in the wilderness, nevertheless, these people turned quickly in their minds and hearts to an Egyptian idol! Stephen was setting them up to show that they had done the same thing. God walked among them, doing mighty works, but that Council had put Him to death.
Questions:
- Have you turned from God in the past after He had benefited you?
- If you did, why do you think you did it?
