The majestic voice of the Lord

Psalms Bible Background

Old Testament: Psa 29.3–4

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 28–30 on July 19, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020

By Don Ruhl

Psalm 29 is all about the powerful voice of the Lord. After declaring that we should worship the Lord, David also declared:

The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
The God of glory thunders;
The LORD is over many waters.
The voice of the LORD is powerful;
The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

– Psalm 29.3–4

The fact that the earth is here, and that it is mostly covered in water, and that he covered the earth in the days of Noah with water, shows the mighty power of his voice. It is magnificent! He truly is King over all the waters of the Earth, for after he covered the Earth with water, he then forbid the water from ever coving all the land again! What he says to be, is!

Questions:

  • What impresses you most about the powerful voice of the Lord?
  • Has moving water ever knocked you over, such as waves at the beach?
