You and the Government

Romans Bible Background

New Testament: Rom 13.1

To read the Bible in a year, read Romans 13 on August 14, In the year of our Lord Christ 2020

By Don Ruhl

Now that you follow Christ, how shall you view the government, especially if it is hostile toward your religion? The Holy Spirit says:

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

– Romans 13.1

Sometimes the government frustrates us, but remember God delivered the government to us. If that be the case, then how shall you react to the government? You heard what the Scripture said. Subject yourself to the government.

Questions:

  • Do you subject yourself to the government even if you have a problem with the government?
  • Does the government ever ask you to do things that violate Scripture?
